Give feedback

Always give children feedback after a consultation to let them know what you are going to do with their thoughts and opinions. Feedback can be given verbally but more creative methods such as a poster or a newsletter are very effective ways of reaching a wider audience.

If children don't receive any feedback about what is being done with their ideas they can quickly become disheartened and think 'what's the point?'. Therefore always tell them what you are doing with their ideas even if this means explaining why you can't use their ideas.
